our board
The board currently has 10 trustees. One trustee is a ‘nominated’ trustee and represents the Acton Scott Estate which owns the land where Acton Scott Heritage Farm is located. The nominated trustee is appointed by the Trustees of the Acton Scott Estate.
Alan
Alan worked for 3M Company in sales, marketing and International business leadership roles. He lived in Brussels and Singapore for 25 years . He was a school governor in the UK and Belgium , and was involved in various children’s sports organisations. He is a keen member of the National Trust and English Heritage.
Francis
Francis was born and brought up on Acton Scott Estate, and has knowledge of the Farm since its establishment as a visitor attraction. With other family members he manages Acton Scott Hall as a venue for historic tours and events. He has a military background, and is a trustee of the Soldiers of Shropshire Museum, and Honorary Colonel of the Shropshire Yeomanry.
Helen
Helen has worked in the Charity Sector for over 20 years and is passionate about Acton Scott Heritage Farm as it was the reason that she moved to Shropshire. Her main area of expertise is governance and funding in charitable organisations. In her spare time she walks the hills with her two Lancashire Heeler dogs: Boudicca and Paulinus.
Jo
Jo trained as a Social Worker and subsequently worked as a manager in Social Services and in the voluntary sector. She has visited Acton Scott since childhood and she and her children volunteered at the farm for many years. Jo is passionate about Living History and its power to both teach us about the past and inform our future.
Megan
Megan is a Professor of Learning and Teaching and lives locally to Action Scott. She is dyslexic, Co-Chair of a Disabled Staff Network and experienced both nationally and internationally researching disability issues. She is a National Teaching Fellow (2017) and has been awarded for use of inclusive education technology, curriculum design and innovative delivery.
Lyndsey
Originally from rural North Yorkshire, Lyndsey is a Nottingham law graduate who worked briefly in the City of London before moving to practice law in Shropshire. After a quarter of a century in private practice advising many clients with businesses related to agriculture Lyndsey accepted an invitation to become Company Secretary and Group Solicitor for one of Shrewsbury’s best known (fifth generation) family businesses.
Lyndsey has applied her professional skills to assist charitable organisations across educational (domestic & overseas) and horticultultural spheres. Having visited the farm when her children were young, Lyndsey is now keen to assist in the rebirth of Acton Scott Heritage Farm
In her free time Lyndsey enjoys spending time with her now adult children, Charlotte and Tom, both of whom are at various stages of their own legal careers but neither of whom share her enthusiastic support for Shrewsbury Town Football Club or Yorkshire cricket.
Mark
Mark is a Chartered Accountant and Registered Auditor, who first came across the Farm while watching the Victorian Farm TV series while living in Japan. He now divides his time between London and the Clun Valley and is keen to bring his professional skills to the benefit of a local charitable organisation. He sees the benefit the Farm can provide, particularly in understanding mixed agriculture and the development of our rural environment.
Andrew
Andrew is an experienced charity trustee. He is on medical leave and his bio will be updated when he returns.
Sarah - Chair
Sarah lives two miles away from Acton Scott, loves the Farm and the value it adds to the community. She has extensive experience of working for not-for-profit organisations where her focus is culture, strategy and innovation. She has delivered new services, set up new entities and led trading subsidiaries.
